W1AW/5 Comments

"We are a new group of Amateurs who for the first time attempted to work this contest from my QTH. Although our years are varied in amateur radio (4-50 years licensed) this was new to us. We had contact with you on each of the bands, but would linger and listen to your operating techniques. Your operators were all extremely courteous and at times helpful. Your signals were strong but not overbearing to the point that I would call you a Big Foot Gorilla, and the audio was crisp and clean. It did not occupy 25 kHz of bandwidth as some others we noticed." - N8GQ

"We heard W1AW/5 only on 15 SSB at OJ6Y. The OJ6Y mult guy put W1AW/5 into the 20 meter bandmap once, but the operator didn't go work it then, and I don't think they ever heard 'AW again. The signal was clean and crisp in 15 SSB and the operator had a nice clear style. The strength was S6-S7 once, and S7-S8 five minutes later." - OH/N3BB

"As someone who was 'moved' a couple times, the internet log feature was HUGE! And it allowed me to make more Qs with W1AW/5 - I REALLY appreciated that. All of the W1AW/5 ops I worked were FB - doing an excellent job!" - WK6I

"Biggest surprise of the contest: breaking the pileup on 4W6MM with 100 W to the vertical. Second biggest surprise (but shouldn't have been): hearing W1AW/5 on 10 meters - the ONLY station I heard and worked on the band." - WN3VAW

"Superb job, great operators! Impressive signals! Wish that I had had a 160 antenna!" - KN5L

"Just wanted to say thanks and to let you know I had fun working the various stations on SSB and CW. The recent storm ate my 160 antenna and the rig will not load on other antennas." - KD5VU
