Receiver Performance, Transmitted Bandwidth and Contest Fatigue
Rob Sherwood NC0B will be the first of two excellent speakers in this
year's Summerfest DX and Contest Forum. Rob was first licensed in 1961
and founded Sherwood Engineering,
Inc. in 1974. Since the first product offerings of upgrades to
Drake receivers, Sherwood Engineering has developed a following for
contesters and DXers seeking the ultimate in receiver performance.
Rob will discuss how he evaluates receiver performance, what parameters
are important, and how the most popular receivers
stack up against each other in every relevant category.

DXCC On Foot
Our second speaker will be Ramon Santoyo V. XE1KK, the
IARU Region II Secretary. An
accomplished DXer and contester, Ramon has the highest
DXCC Challenge totals from Mexico, and is a founding member of the
Grupo DXXE. Ramon has travelled to
115 DXCC entities, and has had the opportunity to operate amateur radio
from about a third of them. Join us as Ramon shares photos and stories
from exotic DX locations like North Korea (P5), Yemen (7O), Iran (EP),
Palestine (E4), Tonga (A3), St. Pierre & Miquelon (FP), and more!
CW and Phone Pileup Competitions
CTDXCC will also host the Third Annual Summerfest Pileup Competitions.
Drop by the CTDXCC table, sit down, and take your choice of a MorseRunner
CW Pileup test, a RufZ high speed CW callsign copying test, or our
first-of-its-kind-EVER SSB pileup competition using a FlexRadio SDR5000
to tune 20 meters to copy all the calls you can in a set time from a
recording made LIVE during the 2010 IARU/WRTC contest.
